Two males and two females are needed to perform a variety of Broadway musical numbers for the production that is scheduled for a two-weekend run beginning June 8. Auditions will begin at 7 p.m. both nights and will be held at the Altenheim Community Center, 18533 Shurmer Road, Strongsville, which is currently acting as the Royalton Players' temporary home. Those attending auditions should bring a piece of music to sing. "Broadway Cabaret" will include a variety of songs from established and more contemporary shows. "We will have songs from a variety of older and well known shows including 'Godspell,' 'The Full Monty,' 'Damn Yankees,' 'Cabaret,' 'Les Miserables,' 'Phantom of the Opera,' 'Chicago,' and 'Man of La Mancha,'" said Scott Maynard, music director for the production and vice president of the theater. 'There will also be musical numbers from some newer and contemporary shows including 'The Book of Mormon,' 'Rent,' 'Spring Awakening,' 'American Idiot,' 'Avenue Q,' and 'Urinetown.'" Joining Maynard in the collaboration of the event is Chuck Poliafico, who will serve as director. Maynard and Poliafico helmed the first "Broadway Cabaret" last year and have been responsible for several of the theater's recent musical productions including "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," and an original production that they wrote titled "War: An All Too Real Christmas Story." In addition to the musical numbers, three short skits written by several Royalton Players members, including Maynard and Ryan Grimes, of North Royalton, will also be produced. "The seating for the musical will be more of a cabaret setting with tables instead of just chairs lined up in rows," Maynard said. "There will also be a variety of coffees, teas and desserts served during the run of the show."
